Writing Expresses And Shares Meaning

In the Article “Writing is a social & rhetorical Activity” Charles Bazerman talks about how writing can express and fundamentally share meaning. By doing this it makes the readers more visible to what the writer is saying. Bazerman also talks about how when you are younger, you’re writing will mature over time if you are reading writing that is expressing, and communicating towards the reader. Something else Bazerman goes into great detail about is how we need to expand and think about what the writer is saying to understand the words he is using and to make it make sense for the readers. Writers will also need to think about the readers while reading for multiple reasons. this can help make communication through writing stronger if we are more aware of what the writer is saying. Bazerman did a magnificent job at showing us how much it means to share meaning in your writing. And how to express it in the best way. “The potential of making and sharing meanings provides both the motive and guideline principle of our work in writing and helps us shape the content of our communications” (Charles Bazerman).

When I was in 10th grade my English teacher told me I needed to show more detail and express more meaning to my audience. At the time I was completely confused about what she meant by more communication. Until I read an article that she provided me. it taught me so much more about writing than I knew at the time. It showed me how to express my point and share meaning with the readers. My English teacher then told me that I needed to get my point across to the readers more by trying to communicate with them. I asked my teacher how can I get my point across any more than I already am. I had come to a stump in my writing trying to figure out how to achieve this. She told me to make the readers feel like I am talking to them as if they are directly in front of me. ever since then, it has changed my writing juristically. It helped me open up my eyes more to how important it is to make the readers feel like they are being included. After I started to realize how much this helped me in the rest of my English classes throughout High School I had to thank my teacher. She showed me a side to writing I didn’t know existed
