Ethicality: Communication Infused with Writing

When we communicate with one another, we are communicating with ethical decisions when we ask ourselves questions that involve how we affect others. That is to say, when we are communicating through writing, we are making ethical decisions in thinking about the readers. Some may say in making an ethical decision, it only follows through a connection, or rather, a relationship. Yet, in “Writing Involves Making Ethical Choices” by John Duffy, advocates through writing, holds a natural relationship that is developed between the writer and the reader. As the writer is openly expressing their thoughts, the reader is openly considering their thoughts.

A writer who attempts to communicate through persuasion or idea, shows the consideration that’s toward the reader. The writer may hold honesty, accuracy, and liability which therefore implies an attitude of respect and open mindedness for the reader and this works vice versa. For writers who communicates unclearly with deception, shows a careless and unpathetic attitude. This is not a way of saying writers should be judge on their morals and values through their writing, for not all writers are intentionally concerning themselves on ethical decision making. Whether the writer voices the ethical decisions and questions, they are held naturally in the field of communication.

Personally, ethical decisions are within most of the words we speak without thinking too much. Some speak and act with truth and compassion, while others deliberately make decisions in order to decide what they should say or do. Which aids in supporting the ethical decision making that is involved with writing. As “writing is also and perhaps ultimately understood as an activity that engages us with others and thus with problems associated with moral life”, therefore peruses education of morality and ethicality.

Through the practice of writing, you intentionally grow and develop skills revolving your comprehension level, which in turn creates room for our moral choices in how we should speak, how we should act, and how we appear to a certain audience. Through the different mediums, we create tone and attitude based on relationship and the rhetorical situation, this puts in practice Kairos and as well as morals if your writing with such empathy. For instance, in writing about a subject that may be sensitive to others, such as religion, writing in a ubiquitous medium where you don’t choose a side, but rather simply state the idea with universal compassion for any party. You there are considering the relationship you have with the readers based on how you carefully project the idea.
