“Writing is a Social and Rhetorical Activity” Kevin Roozen describes how writers connect to people at all times. In the text, two ways writers are embracing a certain purpose or audience could be simply writing an email or report. Moreover, any type of writing whether one thinks so or not is rhetorical, showing writers connect to people all the time. Roozen displays that no matter what, writing strives for the audiences demands. For example, writing a song, typing a text message, making a birthday card, and journaling are ways writing aims to meet demands for their audience. It does not matter what kind of writing is being done, multiple forms of writing connect with people all the time.
Roozen explains how a writer may feel all alone when writing because they may be physically alone while writing however, numerous individuals are engaged with the writing produced, by reading. Moreover, many people are involved with a piece of writing. The people who helped write it, the ones who have read first drafts, and the audience. There are many more individuals involved with writing which will be discussed.
The social aspect of writing exceeds just the audience. Kevin Roozen from University of Central Flordia suggests, “It also encompasses the countless people who have shaped the genres, tools, artifacts, technologies, and places writers act with as they address the needs of their audiences.” Many aspects of writing have been changed over time, multiple times by many people. This displays all types of writing gets changed, even if one may not realize the changes being made. Roozen explains these aspects of writing have gone through many changes with information added on by others and writers are not always informed of it.
Writing in any event, always has an audience. Some writers think they are alone while doing their work but writing connects to others no matter what, rhetorically and socially. Individuals understanding this concept helps recognize what the audience must have. Some writers have a hard time understanding their work connects to many individuals socially and rhetorically and just have to trust the process, but once understood it is very useful, for instance understanding how to make writing compelling and efficient. Having writing connect to people at all times involves a lot of communication happening and brings individuals closer together. Moreover, writing always involves an audience and their demands, and writers connect to people all the time.
