Why Failing Is Important

The article “Failure Can Be An Important Part Of Writing Development” by two authors Collin Brooke and Allison Carr, talks about how failing shouldn’t be seen as a negative thing in the writing process but instead a good thing that helps make your writing great. It is unrealistic to expect students to understand a new writing method when they are constantly changing. They believe students should not be punished for their mistakes but instead allowed time to experiment with their writing so they could see the mistakes and improve from them. Also, when grades are connected with the final product, students are less likely to make alterations in their work so they can maintain their grades. Moreover, Students should learn that making mistakes helps them with their growth and how good writers also make mistakes but learn from them and improve.

I agree with “Failure Can Be An Important Part Of Writing Development” failure shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing in writing. Personally, I believe it’s the best motivator to keep you improving. Not only does it show you where you need to improve when you do finish fixing the issues you have in your writing, but it will drastically improve your work. Also, It is very motivating to know even the greatest writers also make mistakes.”Many students, including myself, try to avoid making changes to our paper to avoid making a mistake and maintain a good grade. So it’s nice to know great authors do struggle as well. In school, they make failure something scary, and the best way to pass was to learn how the teacher wanted the paper done, and I did not have to fix the mistakes I had in my writing. “students are more likely to avoid risking failure for fear of damaging their grades, and this fear works against the learning process. They focus instead on what the teacher wants.”I believe that type of teaching made us students afraid of making new changes in our writing. So if they allowed students to make mistakes, we wouldn’t feel so stressed out about our grades when we’re trying out new things in our writing. It also will help students accept failure and allow our writing to flourish, and make us more confident in our writing, and it shows us that failure is inevitable, but we can always handle it and improve it.” by treating failure as something all writers work through.” The reason recognizing failure is important in the writing process is that it will help students become better writers.
