Practice Is Key

Luka's Stuck in A Dry Spell, Again. And Experimenting with Styles. – Luka's Notebooks

Writing has always been a hard subject for me. I used to think I never needed to write proper as long as someone could understand me. Going through these college classes I found out it was harder for me to read paper then to write papers. Finding out that I had got better at both was amazing. Practicing writing on the blog posts was a good help in learning how to write better.

In “Learning to write effectively requires different kinds of practice, time and effort” Kathleen Blake Yancey points out, to get better at writing you have to jump into it and get started. As a writer, you have to keep practicing and getting better so your words can become clearer and more readable to your audience. Kathleen also said you can practice your writing to other people and see what you did wrong and have it corrected. Most of the time the hardest part of the paper is to start it, once you get going ideas go to your head faster.  Kathleen explains “The threshold concept that learning to write effectively, especially in different contexts or communities of practice, takes different kinds of
practice, and such practice takes time and effort, is troublesome for three reasons.” (Yancey). You can not just practice any type of way, find out what you are doing wrong and try to do better in your revision.

In the reading “All writers have more to learn” Shirley Rose explains the process of practicing writing. Shirley explains how humans do not have a writing talent and how you have to practice writing. When you write for a long time you start building writing habits that will help you write drafts better. Rose explains “With experience, writers do discover that some writing habits developed in one context can be helpful in another. For example, habits such as writing multiple drafts or setting aside regular, frequent periods for writing in a place free of distractions often prove effective regardless of the writing task
or context” (Rose). As long as you keep practicing you can build up the skills necessary for any paper you will have to do in the future.

The more you practice the better writing skills you get which can make writing easier. At the start of the year I was semi-decent at writing and now im decent. Writing did get easier over thi year
